What a Weekend

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times . . . I'll start with the unnecessary, but humorous apology to Chris Horner. You don't suck, you are still cool, and we don't hate you. I was talking to Craig Walker on the phone, you just happened to make eye contact at the wrong moment.

We escaped the house yet again yesterday afternoon to hit the USGP Cyclocross Race up in Boulder. I have to say that Boulder Parks and Rec. really know how to make good use of their space, sucking all the fun out of spending a nice, sunny Sunday afternoon out and about. The entire crew (minus Craig Walker) was ready to grill when the police came by to let us know that a Parks and Wreck employee complained about an unapproved grill in an unapproved location. The policewoman was friendly enough, pet Dempsey without getting bitten, warned us that there was a $300 fine at stake and let us carry on grilling in the parking lot, far, far away from the race course.

Boulder Parks and Rec. . . You suck! No apology to follow. Nonetheless we had a good time and Dempsey got plenty of activity, attention, and small dog lovin' from Chad's new pup.

Keely and I also escaped the house Saturday to attend Derek and Lisa's wedding. It was lovely and everybody was happy and smiley. We clean up pretty well for an occasion, Keely much more so than I.

Meanwhile, back at the house, earlier that day, we set the tile in the butler pantry. Keely set the tile and I made the cuts . . . don't we look like we know what we are doing?

After the cross race, John came by to help some more and after a bit of wrestling with the shelves, we got everything in place. I'm pretty sure the shelves will be holding the house up.

Please take note of the level sitting on the shelves, it was used in the process, everything but the house is level and square. I got up in the attic to attach the threaded rod up above to make the shelves structurally sound.

In the end . . . it all worked out.

After much spectating Dempsey said, "I'm taking my balls and going to bed."
